Heading north on the Oregon coast 6-2

Today, we've headed north on the coast road 101 to Beachside State Park, one of the many beautiful state parks on the Oregon coast, near Yachats, Oregon. We have a great campsite tucked behind the tree line on the edge of the beach. It qualifies for my "Room with a View" demands as we have a window through the trees to the beach.

It rained all day as we traveled. We are lucky our site is dry. Many of the sites in the campground have standing water. Lucky, too, that the sun looks like it's going to peek through.

Ah, Oregon sun, the real stuff, and the beach is beautiful.

The tides make beautiful patterns in the sands.

There are lots of cool things that wash up on the beach.

See.

Ally likes the beach.

Now it's time to chase the waves.

Run!

Not fast enough. Here it comes.

The last of the threatening storm clouds heads inland to rain on someone else's parade.

It's a beautiful evening on the beach...

...with a magnificent sunset!

The next morning we headed to Cape Perpetua, a short distance from our campground at Beachside.

It was another cool, blustery, wet morning but...

...that did not diminish the beauty of the tidal pools.

We love the colors of the Sea Stars.

They are no longer called Starfish as they don't have any bones.

"Look, Pop, check this out."

Here's an anemone.

Should I touch it? Will it bite? The next day when we went to the Oregon Coast Aquarium at Newport Ally found out that when you touch one of their tentacles that have suction cups on the end it just grabs you a little. It's like a tiny baby sucking a finger. No, it doesn't bite.

Look at those muscles attached to the rock. This is the other kind of "Muscle Beach"!

I gave Ally a sand castle building set last Christmas and I think everyone thought I was nuts as usual. It came in handy after we returned from Cape Perpetua and the sun peeked out once again.

With a little bit of digging...

...and a little bit of help from Ally's "Water Boy"...

...a fine castle appeared in the sand.
