Jane here:
This place is an anthropological/sociological dream come true! I actually think some children have sent “cult busters” here to rescue their parents. However, they’ll never get in because we all have name tags that we must wear whenever we leave our rigs. Security, you know, keeps out the trailer trash or is that keeps in the trailer trash? Where are we? We’re at the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Lazy Daze motorhomes in a geographically central location of Cheyenne, WY. There are close to 400 rigs here and they all look alike, not to mention that all the owners look alike too. Not only that, we all talk about the same things – the nearest dump station, the nearest potable water (harder to find), the nearest Walmart Supercenter. Never dreamed looking for Walmart would be part of my life. The dogs however, are all different. Everything from tiny little dogs to huge Newfoundlands. Lots of pets, even fish. Denver and Brea are in doggie heaven. Actually we would have been on line sooner but we’ve been busy, busy, busy having fun.
Jet here:
Busy? Right, if you call busy sitting around talking with all the people (you know Jane – mouth never closes), sipping margaritas, having dinner with friends, Dave and Sandy from MN, in a parking lot ????, walking the dogs. Rough life. Actually one of the real reasons they were not up and running sooner was, I’m sad to disclose (but I must), that Ron. He spent an afternoon doing a 20 minute job, in three hours, while entertaining the neighbors here at the parking lot. Seems he just couldn’t latch on to the satellite he’s been assigned. If only he had checked the computer which was telling him he was chasing the wrong rainbow. Finally he did and wah lah (French from the poodle) the next thing you know he’s finally locked on to the right satellite. He claims all the metal in the engines was throwing off his magnetic compass readings. I don’t think so but it sounds good. After a couple of hours one of our parking lot neighbors said, “Looks like it takes a physicist to set one of those things up.” He didn’t know it was a physicist who was trying his best to get the thing running. Ron was feeling the peer pressure as there were satellite internet systems all around us set up and running.
Denver here: We need to talk. Nose hairs! My Dad was at a seminar on tires this morning so my Mom decided to trim my nose hairs. Good grief, does she have a thing about nose hairs. She even made Dad stop at (where else) Walmart to get a nose hair clipper for him. Then she did my ear hairs, then my tail hairs, then my foot hairs. It’s not safe around here. That Brea never has to endure such treatment. I must admit I look pretty. After we left that wonderful brown river dirt along the Fryingpan River we drove to Heaton Bay Campground on the Dillon Reservoir just outside Breckenridge, CO. It was wonderful. Lots of room to stretch my long legs. Beautiful mountains with white stuff on the top (Is that whipped cream? Yum) and the lake just below our campsite. We might come back here next year for a couple of weeks. 9100 feet of cool living. I like the wildflowers and those big birds that cruise by in the morning. From there we went to the city to stay 2 nights so we could see Alison and Steve. The campground was one of those private ones where they pack ‘em in. The second we landed I was in the shower having my beautiful brown dirt washed away. This time the Brea got it too. Dad ran off to do a marathon laundry session – 5 washers at one time. What a hog! Mom cleaned house with her vacuum cleaner. That took 5 minutes. She likes that. This is what happens when you have electricity. Pure chaos! What’s wrong with being dirty all summer? I don’t like these full hook up places. Back to the bushes for me. Alison came to have a wonderful gourmet dinner with us. She loves the RV. I think maybe she wants one for herself, just like her brother. The next day Brea and I got to hang out on Alison and Steve’s deck. It’s cool to be way up high watching life go by.
Jet here: Alison wants an RV???? That dog is nuts. Alison says RVing has the two things she dislikes the most – camping and driving. Sure she wants an RV. And Scott wants an RV? If you believe that, get help now! That Peggy and Ally could slide down that slippery slope. Have to keep an eye on them. Cody may have some possibility. We’ll have to keep an eye on him too. Wow! That boy is 14 today. June 26! (Happy Birthday Cody from JET).
Jane here: Boy, it’s hard to get a word in edgewise around here. We had a fun visit with Alison and Steve. Good food, good wine as always. Sonny (for son-in-law) commented on this blog that we were providing him with so much material, so little time (as in to harass Granny, as he so rudely calls me, and Ronaldo) and yet he is such a serious executive right now he is losing his touch. Ron even showed him how you could do the Denver thing and sit on the commode and look at yourself in the full length mirror (fully dressed of course). Even that bit of material wasn’t inspirational. Sonny is off his game. Granny is winning the battle of the wits hands downs. Granny just gets better with age. What about Sonny? You’d think he’d really be getting good by now! That was a slam dunk! More points for Granny.
It was nice to have both Alison and Scott and crew to see us off on our journey. We have been having a great time with all the Lazy Daze people from around the country. Next we’re off to Rocky Mountain National Park to sit out 4th of July week. We’re headed back to the woods and mountains and then on to Steamboat Springs, CO to see our former neighbors Paul and Marian Moeller. Stay cool in the desert!

Glad to hear from all of you again (Jane, Jet, Denver et al). Sounds like you're having a terrific time. One question: Is your "Check Our Location" location up to date? Somehow with the Lazy Daze get-together, I expected to see hundreds of little yellow circles all clustered around the same point.
We just returned from a week in Ohio visiting relatives. The high temperature was around 82 or 83, so we're getting acclimated once again to the Valley of the Sun 100+ highs.
Keep on bloggin', Jane! And say hello to the Moellers for us when you see them.
