The week before Thankgiving we got a little stir crazy and were missing the great outdoors. Off we went to Dead Horse Ranch State Park in Cottonwood, AZ. I guess we weren't expecting much but were we surprised. It was a beautiful riparian area along the Verde River and was teeming with wildlife. The campground sat high on a hill overlooking the Verde Valley and the Tuzigoot National Monument with its beautiful ruins. The lights of the city of Cottonwood sparkled below at night and the stars sparkled above. Ron fished the Verde River and the lagoons. Denver, Brea and I walked and walked. Our good friend Joyce and her handsome doggie, Murphy, came to visit for a day. Denver and Brea taught him the ropes of camping. One morning we were sitting outside having coffee when a gal Ron had met on one of his walks with the dogs stopped by to visit with her dog. She was from Sandpoint, ID and, like the birds, was migrating south for the winter. We told her how great it was to be "out" again. We didn't know for sure what makes us feel that way but we sure felt good. She said, "It's the nogatas." I ran down my Spanish vocabulary and couldn't find a fit and then I realized what she meant was the "NO GOTTAS". And you know, it was a revelation and she was right on. That's what RVing is all about. Meeting great people, seeing wonderful places, and NO GOTTAS!
