Ally is an expert at making S’mores as we all know. Tonight, we are joining Phyllis and Noel (our
AZ almost neighbors) at Noel’s carefully made fire. He’s convinced that only men can make fire. Phyllis thinks he’s still living in the “cave
man” era. Ally is demonstrating how to
make the almost perfect S’more. She’s an
expert. Almost perfect, we say. Well, yes.
We no longer have our Trader Joe’s Cinnamon Graham crackers so we have
to settle for the Nabisco ones. That
makes them less than perfect. However,
Ally is trying to compensate by using the giant size marshmallows that Shannon
gave us and by cooking them perfectly.
This is where she shines! First
she’s showing us how to do “skins”. That’s where you cook the outside to a
beautiful golden brown and then slide the outside off to eat. Then you cook the rest and eat the
marshmallow layer by layer. You can do
that with these giant marshmallows. In
no time you’ve eaten the equivalent of four regular marshmallows. Sometimes you just have to do these
things. Bad for the body but good for
the soul.
Watch carefully!
Technique is important.
It’s going to be a beauty.
It requires great patience which is why all marshmallows are burned on
the outside when I make them.
The perfect marshmallow!
Balance carefully on the grahams.
Insert chocolate into the hot gooey center of the
marshmallow. We use 90% cocoa dark
chocolate. That makes them healthy,
right?
Fold grahams over the marshmallow. Don’t squish it!
Lick fingers. No
morsel of goodness must escape.
First bite...just a nibble.
Work your way around the edges.
Now, go for the big bite.
There’s an empty chair.
Don’t you wish you were here to eat one of those yummy S’mores? Y’all come.
Got S’more?
