Yesterday we traveled through Yellowstone NP, out the east entrance of the park, to our next home on the North Fork of the Shoshone River. Yellowstone was, as always, magnificent. This was our fourth time in the park – every time different – every time a feast for the eyes. This is the year of the wildflower everywhere we’ve been and Yellowstone didn’t disappoint in this regard. It was a blaze of color.
You can’t drive through the Tetons or Yellowstone without seeing Bison. Can’t you just feel the power of this guy? We haven’t seen any Pronghorn Antelope yet this year (we will) but I learned an interesting fact about them that I had never known. They are the fastest North American land animal but, unlike deer, they have no ability to jump fences. They also have one of the longest migration ranges of any North American animal. These two facts together are causing problems for them as development (oil/gas and homes) comes between their summer homes in the Tetons/Yellowstone area and their winter homes in the Red Desert of southern WY. The National Park Service/ Dept. of Interior are working with developers to keep wildlife corridors open for the migrations. Thought you’d like to know. Your tax dollars at work. Better than fancy toilet seats wouldn’t you say?
We arrived at Rex Hale NFS c.g., a favorite of ours from 2006, and were greeted once again by Mike and Mary Jo (last seen July 4th rafting the Taylor River by our Rosy Lane campground in Almont, CO) and their friends, Lee Ellen and George from Carbondale, IL, who had just driven in to join our party. Let the fishing begin.
Two years ago the fishing was unbelievable here. Now we’re again waiting for the water to slow down a bit. It’s clearing and slowing a little everyday but there’s still snow pack on many of the mountains in Yellowstone that feed the rivers. We’re not complaining as we sure need the water in the west. There will be big celebration here when the boys start catching lots of fish. Meanwhile they’re just improving their odds... patience...
...and we’re all enjoying the great company, new friends, and gorgeous surrounds.

We're back home after more than a week of cooler weather at the cabin and showers every afternoon.

I think if I were you Jim I'd head for the mountains again. Sounds like it's a bit hot down there.
There was no fence but there was our RV between us. Nothing like a good lens to rein him in.
