8-31 Walk on the tame side

As you may know (if you’ve ever read this blog) Ron and I like to stay in the national forests and parks with no amenities – just lots of scenery, animals, and rivers. We are able to do this since we travel in our small Lazy Daze that will sit just about anywhere. When Sandy and Dave went full time they needed a bit more space and that means a bit more space in a campground...and amenities help too. They were kind enough to join us a bit on the wild side in the Tetons and were able to just barely squeeze into camp.

So we thought we’d return the favor and join them in places that fit them a bit better while in SD. We just followed for a few days as they led us on our journey.

We traversed the southern route through the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming through Ten Sleep Canyon on to Spearfish, SD. We traveled through heavy clouds for the first time in a while. I think we were getting a clue as to what we'd be seeing for the next week or so.

We didn’t complain about our accommodations at our first stop even though it was a bit tame for our rustic standards. The distance views were grand and the clouds were beautiful.


It rained the next day and we must say it was kind of nice not to have to deal with mud and dirt, not to mention having a good hot shower to stand in as long as we wanted. JET would have loved this place. Charley and Denver loved it as they had a nice dog run in which to romp. Tomorrow Dave and Sandy are taking us to Custer State Park and the Black Hills.
