7-29-2012 Starting off easy

As we always say, one of the best things about RVing is the great folks we meet who become our good friends.  It’s great to see them once or several times a year on the road.  It’s like going back to college in the fall.  The Gros Ventre social season is in full swing.  Tonight we have Linda and John from CO, closest to the camera, and Mike and Mary Jo, from IL, joining us for dinner.  Scott has really enjoyed fishing with Mike these last couple of days.  Yes, we find time for that too.  Ally thinks Mary Jo is the coolest of Grandmas because she likes to play games and that is something this Grandma doesn’t do very often.  Ally has been spending her spare time with Mary Jo.  Linda is about to become my new hiking partner.  She’s going to go with us tomorrow when we hike to Taggart Lake.  We’ll start her and Scott off easy with only a five mile or so hike.  John and Ron love to talk tech.  Mike and Mary Jo will soon head off to spend August north of Yellowstone on the Yellowstone River.  Linda and John will be staying here for a while.  We love having our friends around.  I think Scott is relieved to know we’re not hanging out with trailer trash...well, actually we are...they’re just like us!  He’s thinking we have a pretty nice collection of friends.  We do.  There are some really neat folks who love this lifestyle.  There is a gal working here at the campground whose husband works across the highway at one of the golf clubs here.  They have a stick house on the 1st tee box of the golf course in a very fine CO mountain community.  Our daughter lives there also.  They had a motorhome that they weren’t using too often.  A family member became ill and they went to help out and took their motorhome in which to live while there.  They liked it so much they rented the stick house and now live full time in the motorhome. They love being busy and love RVing.  It’s an addictive lifestyle.  We know the feeling well.

We’re off to Bradley Lake, Taggart Lake, and the Beaver Creek trail.  Scott and Ally are leading the way.  It’s a beautiful morning.
Another thing I always say is that Ally sees all the small things I don’t normally see.  I have my eyes on the trail.  She manages to see everything.  She has just found this amazing spider web hanging above the trail.
And we think we’re so uniquely intelligent.  I’m not so sure.  Do the math on this one.

We reached Taggart Lake and the storm clouds are brewing.  We never know whether things will clear or whether it will get worse.  We’ll take a few shots while we can.

A couple of natural born hikers.

Family portrait.  Am I shrinking?

Looks like our lifestyle agrees with Scott.  Ally likes that.  She’s hoping one day her Mom will come play with her in her summer home.
Hmmm, things are cookin’ up there.  The Grand Teton always attracts the lightning.  That’s good for us.
The Grand is framed by these beautiful tree trunks.
I see a patch of blue up there.
It looks like things will clear for our hike down through Beaver Creek.
