We’ve traveled two hours south and west of the Umpqua National Forest and we’re in the heart of the coastal redwood country in the tip of northern CA. The trees tower overhead along the Smith River in the Jedediah Smith State Park and the Redwood National Park. There are some wonderfully strange insect eating plants, the California Pitcher plant. The forests are beautiful. When you hike among these giants you feel like you’re about to encounter a dinosaur around the next corner. Very strange indeed.

We were amongst the redwoods many, many years ago and I had forgotten how REALLY tall they are!
