It’s amazing what a little experience does to contribute to a low stress departure for our annual RV adventure. Each year things go a little more smoothly. We kept wondering what was going to go wrong as we’re not used to getting outta Dodge without at least one or two goof ups. This year we've had smooth sailing all the way but we’re not knocking on wood because we know that Murphy is out there somewhere. We’re sitting (literally) at beautiful Bonito NFS campground just north of Flagstaff. The temps are in the low 70’s, the breeze is whistling through the pines, and we see snow on the San Francisco Peaks so we know we’re headed in the right direction! Actually, that’s reassuring. Ron is my dyslexic GPS navigator and often tells me to turn right when it should have been left. Seeing snow is a good thing.
Tomorrow we’re off to Marble Canyon (Lee’s Ferry, AZ) to see Alison, Steve, Cody, and two of his good friends off on their raft trip through the Grand Canyon. Everyone knows that’s one of my favorite things to do and it makes me so happy that Cody, who traveled with me through the canyon in 2004, wanted to go again for his 16th birthday. Way to go Cody man! Talk about stress……I can only imagine the withdrawal that Alison and Steve are going through at the thought of being out of communication with the outside world for a week. This should be interesting…..
