They're off 6-3-08

Cody and I rafted through the Canyon in 2004 with a group of 20 fun friends and relatives. That was Cody’s first trip and my second. For his 16th birthday he wanted to take his Mom and Steve and two of his friends on the same raft trip. What’s a Mom to do when her son wants her to experience something he loves? What else? Say yes! Alison thinks camping is a night at the Hilton without a hairdryer. You can imagine what the thought of 5 nights of camping under the stars, without any communication to the outside world, and the possibility of seeing the Grand Canyon Pink rattlesnake does for her. Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words.

They’re off……have a great trip! I can’t wait to hear the details.

6-13-08 Well it's been 6 days since they ended their raft trip and we haven't heard from Steve and Alison until now. We've chatted with Cody, who said he and his buddies had a great time, but we thought it best not to contact Steve and Alison until they recovered from the shock of travel in the wilds of the canyon. Today we received the following email from Alison:

The blog is awesome. We were tempted to post a comment on the "Wish you Were Here?" page. The answer ... "NO"! Cody seemed to have fun, with the exception of the day filled with storms and a microburst that broke tents and caused Steve's eye to swell shut due to sand. Steve and me .... the longest 5 days of our lives, but we believe it could be made into a Chevy Chase National Lampoon movie. On the good side, I lost 5 pounds and Steve is now thinking that Vietnam was not the worst thing he has ever done. You all are nuts to think that rafting trip is in any way a good time :). We love you though. Looking forward to keeping up with the blog and to our "luxury" trip to Scotland.

DIFFERENT STROKES FOR DIFFERENT FOLKS! She says the blog is "awesome" because it provides a mechanism for keeping track of us. When your kids are little you keep tabs on them. When your kids are big they keep tabs on you. Life is one big circle!
