Today has been an extraordinary day in the travel department. We’ve traveled from our location on the Rio Grande River through Creede, CO over Slumgullion Pass through Lake City, CO to Almont, CO, north of Gunnison, where we now sit on the Taylor River. What a drive! Just the kind I love (many squiggles on the GPS). At one point I asked Gil and Nancy if they’d ever been in Switzerland and they had. They confirmed my suspicion that the countryside we’ve traveled today is like being in Switzerland. This drive is known as the Silver Thread Scenic Byway. Thought you might enjoy a few photos taken (by whom we will not say) as we drove. Enjoy the photos but better yet drive the drive. Lake City would be a wonderful little town in which to escape the summer heat.
